teflon

You didn’t wait around to see the words land
Eager to dispatch me
Spattering fried egg sliding off teflon

But land they did

A conversation planned to fail
Cushioned by audience and ticking clock; go!

But land they did

               Sour vomit to the sidewalk
                            Needles of rain

You didn’t wait around to see the words land
A hasty checkmark on a to-do list
Courage saved for those that matter

But land they did

               Crumbs brushed off a table
                            Used tissues wet with snot

You didn’t wait around to see the words land

But they did
